Our Process
We provide award-winning design services for municipal, commercial, and private clients. Whether it is the design of a private garden, city parkway, luxury apartments, a commercial campus, or a back yard, our dedicated team will be there with you through every step of the process.
01. Conversation
It starts with a conversation, not a consultation. One of our talented designers will meet with you on site to discuss the scope, scale, and complexity of your unique project. During this meeting, we listen to what you want, need, or hope to achieve. From this we Provide you with a Customized Design Fee Proposal.
(If you chose to hire us for the design, here is what’s typically included.)
02. Design
We will first perform a Site Visit to document existing site conditions and get an understanding of the existing conditions of your property. Your EMI designer will take this information and craft and initial Landscape Concept Plan showing the existing site layout with proposed improvements. Our team will present this along with a recommended Plant and Hardscape Palette, to communicate design intent, at the second meeting. A Order of Magnitude Budget will also be provided at this time as we start to quantify the scope of the project.
Design Renderings, such as preliminary 3D modeling, 2D tendered photo simulations, or additional image boards, may be provided should the proposed design solution require elaborated views.
03. Propose
As we iterate toward the desired final design scope, our team will provide final Landscape and Hardscape Plans based on the feedback you provided, as well as a detailed Construction Proposal for the construction of the proposed landscape design.
04. Construct
Upon acceptance of the contract, Your EMI designer will coordinate with our production team to plan and execute the design. You will be assigned a Project Manager, who will be available to answer any construction-related questions you may have.
The EMI team will conduct a Pre-Construction Meeting with you to review the plans and discuss any site-specific needs or challenges associated with your property. During the Construction Phase, your project manager will keep you updated with progress.
Our site construction services extend to nearly all exterior related fields. Since we do little to no subcontracting, we maintain most services in-house and offer you a comprehensive approach for completion of your project.
05. Care
Upon completion, we will also be sure to connect you with one of our Account Managers who can provide you with a proposal for Long-term Care and Maintenance to make sure your new landscape continues to thrive for years to come.
06. Enjoy
With you as inspiration and us to help you along the way, your vision has become a reality. Whether it be a new outdoor living space, garden, or structure, we are happy to have gotten you there. Now it’s time to sit back, relax and enjoy.
