Hardscape and Softscape Foremen oversees the efficient operation and installation of Landscape designs while operating within the budget guidelines. Hardscape and Softscape Foremen manage jobsites daily and provide work direction for Crew Members. Directly supervises between 1-4 employees depending on the magnitude of the job. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the EMI’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include training employees, appraising performance, rewarding employees and improving employees’ work habits, planning, assigning, and directing work. This position reports to EMI Irrigation Services Manager and is based at one of our three Columbus, Ohio areas.

Irrigation Service Technicians oversee the efficient operations of site irrigation systems while operating within EMI budget guidelines. Irrigation Service Technicians communicate and resolve all issues to ensure the clients’ needs are being met. Able and willing to communicate with client site representatives when needed with quality and client satisfaction as top priority.

This position requires 40 – 45+ hours per week. This is a well-compensated hourly, non-exempt position and is eligible for EMI’s full company benefit program. Travel, when required is generally limited to the Columbus Metro region. EMI is an EOE firm.

CDL Class B Driver will operate a variety of vehicles including bark and slinger trucks. Driver will deliver landscaping materials to various job sites w/in EMI’s service footprint. Driver will safely operate and maneuver large vehicles.

  • Always adhere to the EMSI Driver Policy.
  • Maintenance: Drivers are responsible to ensure the vehicle is always functioning properly and must report any problems immediately to management or the mechanic for prompt correction. Always maintain cleanliness of vehicle.
  • Responsible for daily pre-trip safety inspections.
  • Continually operate vehicle in safe manner taking into consideration weather, traffic and road conditions. Obey the rules of the road, posted traffic signs and speed limits.
  • Always maintain driver’s license. Report any and all infractions.

Qualifications:

  1. Conducts New hire orientation to include:
    • Basic safety knowledge
    • Initial skills assessment and/or training to include correct use and safe operation of equipment, i.e. Walk Behind and ZTR mowers, line trimmers, bed and sidewalk edger’s and power shears
    • Proper Trailer connections, loading and driving procedures.
  2. Schedule and conduct seasonally required training for existing employees to include:
    • Mulch mule loading and operation.
    • Proper mixing and application of chemicals.
    • Snow equipment; salt spreaders, plow trucks, etc.
  3. Distributes initial PPE and maintain proper inventory of same.
  4. Track specialized safety equipment (specialized PPE); its distribution, maintenance and replacement. Also, provide training to employees for said specialized safety equipment.
  5. Document all training and education, including OJT and outside certifications.
  6. Provide refresher training for employees involved in accidents or those who repeated violate safety standards.
  7. Conduct and/or participate in weekly safety meetings/toolbox talks as directed.
  8. Make recommendations to improve operational and safety training content, protocols and policy.
  9. Participate in coaching and/or warnings of employees as needed.
  10. Provides ongoing training and skill development activities for all Foreman, Crew Leaders and Crew members as it relates to corresponding roles and responsibilities through classroom education and/or On-the-Job Training.
  11. Support safety manager by
    • Actively participating and documenting incident reports to include damaged property, physical injuries, near misses and any other safety violations.
    • Performing safety audits of company trucks, trailers, equipment, machinery, power and hand tools.

With the guidance of the Maintenance Operations Manager, manage all aspects of seasonal color projects to include, development of season color displays, material ordering, bed design, in addition to updating and maintaining current Seasonal Color Database. The Seasonal Color Designer will identify appropriate seasonal color enhancement needs and opportunities with current clients while increasing the department’s revenue goals. Duties will include conducting field work and assessments, preparation of base maps, design concepts, finished plans and construction drawings as needed. Attend client meetings as necessary to acquire client information, expectations and create designs in-line with client’s budgets and site challenges. Assist with design presentation and project coordination through installation completion. Works in cooperation with Maintenance Operations Manager, Maintenance Branch Managers, Field Service Managers / Seasonal Color Manager, EMI Account Managers, and Assets Manager with quality and customer satisfaction as top priority. Must be available to work extended hours and during inclement weather.

  1. Development of Season Color Displays
    • Flower Ordering / Site Designs / Inventory Control.
    • Creation of Project Notebooks – for crew usage.
    • Information Dissemination.
    • Development of display ideas / concepts.
    • Consistently update and maintain current Seasonal Color Database.
    • Development of Season Color Displays for all seasons.
    • Conduct field analysis and prepare AutoCAD base maps to facilitate the design process.
    • Request quotations from material suppliers and trade subcontractors.
    • Organize, review and log quotes in accordance with file management structure.
  2. Assists / Implement Project Upsells / Seasonal Color Enhancement*
    • Prospect current clients for seasonal color enhancement opportunities.
    • Review of pertinent site issues that require attention / approval for completion.
    • Communicate with specified salesman / Account Manager to propose cost to owner.
    • Implement work upon approval by owner / manager.
  3. Client Communication*
    • On-site communication with customers is required.
    • Oversee all interaction with clients regarding Seasonal Color and use proactive communication to keep Account Managers and clients informed.
    • Provide proactive site quality reviews and communicate evaluations internally and externally as necessary.
    • Schedule site walk throughs with client, resolve any issues discovered and follow through to ensure that the issue is resolved properly.
    • Identify and provide client with seasonal color site improvement suggestions.
    • Ensure clients receive requested products and services in a timely fashion.
    • Work with cross-functional internal teams (including Irrigation and Maintenance Operations Manager, Seasonal Color Manager, and Account Manager) to improve the entire customer experience.
    • Deliver presentations in front of small groups.

Qualifications:
